Greater Lansing Food Bank (GLFB) distributes more than 10.5 million meals each year, leading mid-Michigan’s fight against hunger since 1981 to provide families and neighbors access to the nutritious food they need to support their health and wellbeing. GLFB’s 4,000 square mile, seven-county service area encompasses Clare, Clinton, Eaton, Gratiot, Ingham, Isabella and Isabella Counties. Today, 1 in 7 people and 1 in 5 kids experience food insecurity ― that’s almost 100,000 people in mid-Michigan, including 22,290 children. GFLB is now serving nearly 18,000 households every month through our programs and services such as Home Delivery, Garden Project, mobile food distributions and more.

Despite some signs of an improving economy, neighbors’ lives continue to be challenging, especially as groceries and other essentials remain costly. Neighbors facing hunger tell us that the cost of living, housing, employment, health and other factors – like the end of pandemic-era relief efforts – are among the top reasons why it’s increasingly difficult to afford and access the food they need to thrive.
